Our farm has been growing wholesale Christmas trees for over 30 years. During that time, we have learned many lessons about farming and raising trees. From these lessons learned, we have developed four cornerstones for our farming operation.

Maintain Tree Quality

Christmas tree quality begins with preparing fields before the trees are planted and continues up to the time that the tree is placed into someone’s home. During our many years in the Christmas tree business, we have worked with agricultural extension agencies, other growers and our customers to constantly upgrade and improve our farming techniques. The knowledge that we have gained is shared with all of our wholesale customers so that they can maintain tree quality when the trees are stored at their facility.

Provide Freshly Cut Trees

Most of our wholesale customers receive their trees around the time of Thanksgiving, and will sell from that time up to near Christmas. Since the trees are at the selling location for approximately three weeks, it is very important that the trees be cut as close to the ship date as possible. Many of the larger tree growers begin cutting trees two or three weeks prior to shipping. We work closely with our customers to schedule tree delivers such that the trees are cut no more than seven (7) days prior to shipment. In many cases, we are able to deliver trees that have been cut around five (5) days. This practice has proven to be a huge benefit for our customers as they don’t receive trees that are “dried up” upon arrival.

Maintain Customer Relationships

The foundations for good customer relationships are described above – provide quality trees and deliver freshly cut trees to the customer’s facility. However, we also feel it is important for our customers to know us in order to develop a trusting relationship. Therefore, we often call or e-mailour customers just to stay in touch. Our approach has resulted in long term relationships with most of our customers.

Take Care of the Environment

Growing Christmas trees in an environmentally friendly practice which provides many benefits such as clean air and stable soil. However, this practice can be enhancedby utilizing farming techniques such as maintaining low growing vegetation in tree fields and selectively using herbicides or pesticides. Also, tasks such as shearing (shaping) trees are still performed by hand instead of a machine which minimizes the environmental impact of our farming process. Hand shearing also provides better quality trees. Funny how it all works together!!
